After our „winetasting day “ we spent the night at Kathleens house in Vacaville close to Sacramento. In the morning she showed us her dogs and her extensive property with ample parking for the „Mobilhome “  Kathleen has six Danes, harlequin and mantle. The dogs have a garden directly by the house and the extensive terrace, in addition, a gigantic outside area to play and a kennel with the possibility to come inside of the dog house at any time by a flap. With Kathleen everything is black-and-white: The dogs, the interior arrangement of the house – even the horse whom we visited in the pasture belonging to the property. With one exception: Pippin, the small dachshound, is deep brown. Kathleens breeding goes back to a great extent to two German dogs: Ghia (mantle bitch) and Fürst (harlequin dog) von  der Ofnethöhle. She imported them five years ago and had substantial results with these breedings. Now Kathleen’s  oldest bitch, Abigail, is nearly ten years old, her 6-year-old bitch is to be bred  this month for the third and last time – by a son of Ghia. After a vast champagne brunch with many Dane-friends Kathleen brought us back to Paul and Grady in the evening. In the meantime, even more visitors had arrived: Gradys daughter had come from North Carolina – with her sweet, just ten month-old daughter Hayden. Grandpa Grady was very proud and happy to have the both visiting for a while Thanks Kathleen for making this a memorable visit
